With summer well and truly here (OK it has been raining a bit, but we persevere!), you would think that the light nights would be a good excuse to sit back and take a break.

Luckily, our intrepid band of reviewers don’t let anything put them off.

Indeed, with summer sights such as the star clouds and nebulae of the Milky Way, there is plenty to take aim at, whether it be observing or imaging.

Steve Richards had great fun when he explored the virtues of the Vixen Polarie Star Tracker mount with its new upgrade kit. This allows for a larger payload so you can increase your camera lens size to capture even closer views with what is a simple set-up.

These tracking mounts for DSLR cameras have really become popular and can also provide portable solutions for travelling astronomers and eclipse chasers, so make sure you have a read of Steve’s review if you're thinking of heading across the pond for this summer's US eclipse.

National Geographic have long been synonymous with opening our eyes to the world around us, and have often covered astronomical topics.

The magazine was one of my favourites was when I was younger and I can still remember their amazing spread exploring how large our Universe is.

Now they’ve gone a step farther and teamed up with Bresser to create their own branded small GoTo range of telescopes. In this month’s issue, I take a look at their 90mm automatic telescope and took a tour of the sky with it.

Finally, astro cameras are still being advanced at an amazing rate so we asked Tim Jardine to explore what Altair’s Hypercam IMX183 USB 3.0 camera could do.

Pick up our August issue, on sale 20 July, to read our equipment reviews and plan for the month ahead with our 17-page Sky Guide.
