Life in the nation's capital city may have all kinds of advantages, but dark skies aren't generally considered one of them. But never fear – if you are based in London and want to get the most out of Stargazing LIVE 2012, here's our round-up of events that will help you do just that.

Who: Baker Street Irregular Astronomers, British Astronomical Association
When: 18 January
Where: The Hub, Regent's Park
What: Baker Street Irregular Astronomers meet up every month in Regent's Park, which offers level ground, a cafe and toilet facilities, under skies that – for London – are surprisingly dark. To mark Stargazing LIVE 2012, they've teamed up with the British Astronomical Association and leading telesope retailer The Widescreen Centre to stage this special event at which over 30 telescopes are expected to be set up. There'll also be a raffle to win a telescope.
