This just received from Astronomy Ireland:

Astronomy Ireland's Annual Astronomy Exhibition will once again take place this year in the impressive Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin. This event takes place THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14 and we encourage everyone in Ireland to come along to our National Exhibition featuring a host of activities, lectures and displays to whet the appetite of every science and astronomy fanatic.

Astro-Expo is the biggest Astronomy and Space exhibition on this island and is hosted by Astronomy Ireland every year. Throughout the years the Expo has comprised of rockets, meteorites, imaging displays (including impressive astro-photography stands), telescope demonstrations, information on astronomy degree courses and a full compliment of lectures and activities. This year's event is no exception, and is set to be a fantastic day out.

For 2009, "Exploring the Universe" spectacular exhibition, in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland, will be the main exhibit for guests to feast their eyes on. The exhibition illustrates some of the most fantastic discoveries in the history of astronomy. From ancient times until now, man has observed the sky, first with the naked eye, and then with ever more powerful instruments. Leading French scientists have helped put this travelling exhibition together and it has proved highly successful across the globe to date. The exhibit is provided entirely through English.

Also on display this year is the renowned International Year of Astronomy (IYA) exhibition 'From Earth to the Universe'. Having travelled across towns and cities throughout the country this exhibition has received rave reviews and it is a display not to be missed.

The keynote speaker this year is Irish scientist, Kevin Nolan, who has written a book called 'Mars: A Cosmic Stepping Stone' and he will be on hand for a book signing to launch this, the very first Irish space book! Other speakers include Dr. Ian Sanders, an expert on meteorites from the Geology Dept. in TCD, and Kevin Sweeney, Astronomy Ireland's Education Officer, who will give a talk entitled 'The Universe for Beginners' - a must for all budding astronomers!

When: Saturday, November 14 from 12pm - 6pm.
