Pippa Goldschmidt is a writer of eclectic stories who also has a PhD in astronomy and worked as an astronomer for several years at Imperial College.

She has worked on outer space policy, where she regulated the British space industry, and is currently working on offshore renewable energy policy for the Scottish Government.

Pippa was short-listed for the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers’ Awards in 2008. She is currently a writer in residence at the Genomics Forum, at the University of Edinburgh. Since she started this post she has run a short story competition inspired by genetics, and is writing a blog on the interaction between science and literature. She also runs workshops on fiction and writing for social scientists.

For Pippa's Ayrtime slot she will be delivering talks and readings based on the relationship between astronomy and poetry, which was in part delivered at The Royal Observatory in Greenwich last year.
