Postby psychobilly » Sun Jun 15, 2008 4:46 pm

Inspired again By Skywatcher I knocked these up...

They are availabe Here in 150,300,600 and 1200 DPI formats...

I Have fitted the +/- 90 degree scales to my WO Field Flattner III and the 000-100 to the LHS knob of the Dual Spped Crayford Focuser on my "66"

Hope someone finds them useful...Use tahn as you will...

Billy...

They are for...

Pre-setting the rotation of the camera to frame an object . The 3 rotational scales are because of the 3 points at which the FF setup can be rotated,

and pre-setting the focus back to a pre-determined starting point on the focuser when you change setups etc...

Why oh why do they not make sensors circular? The area of acceptable image formed by the telescope is circular ... if the sensor was circular too, you would just crop the image to whatever aspect ratio you wanted, with minimal wastage of live pixels. And no need to pre-orientate the camera.

Cheers, Billy, I have now emptied it!

I am pleased that the scales are working out for you - simple idea but does the job and ensures repeatability within reasonable limits. I have designed a vernier scale too but frankly life is too short to go that far especially as the various attachment components don't normally run flush up against one another!
