I have a 3 inch low power spotter, a pair of 8x30s and a jerry rigged 10x50 monocular. Will I be able to see it from northern England?

The further north you are, the higher Ursa Major will appear - so your location seems to be a pretty favourable one. Comets are unpredictable animals - so alot will depend on the magnitude it eventually decides to attain next month. Sky conditions and a good, clear horizon roughly to the north will dictate what you are able to see.

Good luck! [:)]

I guess you're right Andy!
I'm looking forward to finding this comet and to seeing who is the first to get the image of it!

I shall be confined to using my Beacon Hill camera tracker, assuming the comet gets above the trees. Here's an image I took with the camera tracker of Ikeya-Zhang back in 2002 (the pink splodge directly below it is M31).

Great shot Andy!
I went in the graden last night hoping to find its location but according to my star maps its in Leo, which is still below my horizon. Unfortunatley I dont get a clear north view because of all the houses.

Cracking shot Andy,
BTW are you back into observing yet? I know that you have been posting, I just wondered whether the observatory was back up and running and you are back into using it!

HI, All,
Great shot Andy,I never got round to imaging Ikeya Zhang but I can go back further with this rather grainy image of Hale Bopp taken on March 27 1997.It would be great to see others archive shots of the cometery greats, after all there was no forum when they were taken.
Regards Les.
