Dear Fellow astronomer

We are now only a week away from the biggest regional Astronomy event of 2011! The MaccAstro and British Astronomical Association (BAA) Back to Basics astronomy day at Macclesfield Town Hall.

Time is now running out fast as we approach the final booking deadline.

There have been approximately 70 reservations for our excellent programme of talks, workshops and question and answer sessions. With Stockport Binocular and Telescope Centre, Peak2Valley Instruments and Alpenstock all in attendance, it promises to be a great day.

It is not too late for you to reserve your ticket(s). Please call 0207 734 4145, e-mail or visit for further information.

The programme is as follows:

• 10:00: Registration – tea and coffee
• So what astronomy can I do?
• What equipment and books do I need?
• Observing the Sun
• Observing Saturn and Jupiter
• Observing the Moon
• Lunch
• Observing double stars
• 2 × 30 minute workshop sessions - the Sun and Moon
• Afternoon tea
• 2 × 30 minute workshop sessions - Planets and Double Stars
• 17:00: Feedback and question session

Members of Macclesfield Astronomical Society and the BAA can purchase tickets for £11.00. Otherwise, tickets are £15.00 per person (which includes refreshments, lunch and afternoon tea).

Let's make this a great day for Astronomy! Thank you for your support ...

Best wishes

Chairman, Macclesfield Astronomical Society
