Hi and Welcome,
We'll certainly try and help with any queries you have.
Do you have any kit yet? If you're using it and getting enjoyment from it, then you're not necessarily doing it 'wrong', but we may be able to help you get more out of it.

If you don't have any kit yet, and are looking for advice, let us know a bit about your situation and we'll see if we can help.
Scopes: Meade 8" SCT, Skywatcher 127mm Mak, Raffle winner of SW ST80

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yes I already acquired a bit of kit. Have a Tasco 114mm 450mm reflector that I got 20 years ago which is heading for the skip.

Recent acquisitions are a 110mmx805mm F7.3 TAL-1M for auto tracking, an 8" GSO Dob and a 10" Skyliner 250px Dob.

Already got loads of questions but cannot post on this forum as this Welcome thread is only place the system will allow me to post :(

The forum is a bit quirky when it comes to new members but I've not come across that one before. What actually happens if you try to start a new thread or post on an existing one?

I'd hang on to the old telescope. You might find a use for it, or simply regret chucking away a bit of your personal history. At least see if someone would like to buy it first.

Re: Tasco, I might put it on ebay for £1 starting bid and set all proceeds to go to charity.

Re: posting issues.
When I try to post I get the message... "Too Spammy, please remove some of your URL's"
But I didn't have any URL's so I kept cutting it down until it was a single sentence. Still the same. So I registered with another forum and posted my questions there.

It was a real disappointment, especially since I have already subscribed to the magazine for my daughter.

The automated system is far too sensitive, and not at all 'smart'. :(
For the first dozen or so posts you will have to be creative, and rewrite using different words until it is happy. As I recalled the spelling on the forum message is 'spamy' which is a 'wrong' word if ever I saw one! :D Clearly a software writer who didn't pay enough attention in his English class!
