Hello from Leicester

Just a quick question. The BBC4 edition of Sky at Night is 30 minutes long but the BBC1 edition (and repeat on BBC2) is 20 minutes long.
Does anyone know why ?

It would be better to just broadcast the 30 minute edition on BBC1 and BBC2.
The subtitles (from the BBC iPlayer site) are 30 minute and obviously don't match the BBC1 edition.

I suppose we ought to be lucky we get that.

If the BBC would save money by sacking the people that talk over the end of every show & cut out all those annoying advertisements, sorry trailers, they run between programmes, perhaps they'd have more time to show proper programmes. Just so long as they don't extend EastEnders (again) >8-p

There's an idea Brian - drop the Eastenders Omnibus and have 2 hours of Sky at Night on a Sunday afternoon!!

The reason I'm asking is because BBC1 is now simulcast on BBC1 HD.
It would be nice to see the full 30 minute edition in HD (although it's upscaled SD).
The other solution is to simulcast BBC4 on the satellite transponder (BBC4 HD) - there's plenty of bandwidth.
