Ilkeston & District AS - Spring Astronomy Open Day - Saturday June 11th 2011

Hello All,

As part of our 30th birthday celebrations the Ilkeston & District AS are holding its late Spring Astronomy Open Day at the Visitor Centre, Shipley Country Park, Slack Lane, Heanor, Derbyshire, on Saturday June 11th. Doors open from 9:30am until around 4pm.

We will have a selection of member’s telescopes on show, along with several automated powerpoint presentations going on throughout the day. We also hope to do some solar observing in the Centre’s Courtyard – though this is weather permitting! The Metcheck website is currently showing a reasonable day, so fingers crossed.

These types of events are a pretty informal affair, and members will be on hand to chat about astronomy and give advice. If anyone has a problem with their telescope, then this is a really great opportunity to bring it along to get some hands-on help and advice.

If you cannot come along on Saturday, then if you are interested our static display of member’s work (documenting 30 years of the Society) is currently on show at the Visitor Centre until Friday June 17th.

Regards
