I live in a wooded area but there is a hotel near me that shines light beams into the sky. I sometimes see orion but it can be quite frustrating as I want to see more.

Light pollution is the bain of my life. Anyway i'm here to help, hopefully. Where are you based? I'm involved with the MyDarkSky project and it's worthwhile checking out. We're trying to find the darkest spots everywhere, even in heavily light polluted areas.
