Here's what Bolton Astronomical Society have planned for January:

Tuesday, 15th January 2013
Activity night: "Telescopes"
No Presentations, no theoretical, just pure practical. Here we'll be showing how to use that telescope you got for Christmas.

This event takes place at Ladybridge Community Centre, Beaumont Drive, Bolton BL3 4RZ starting at 7:30pm. Non-members £2.

Stargazing Live 2013 - Worcester

Just a quick note to tell everyone about the events Worcester Astronomical Society are taking part in/organising to tie in with BBC Stargazing Live 2013.

Friday 11th January - Free Public Observing session at Bishop Perowne High School, Merriman's Hill Road, Worcester. 7.00pm start. The weather looks good so calling all stargazers in South Wales. Make your way down to Rhossili in Gower for a splendid star gazing evening.

In partnership with Rhossili Village Hall, the Swansea Astronomical Society Observers will be viewing the wonders of the night sky through their telescopes. Tuesday 4th December
"Star Parties" - Update on the society's Star Party to Kelling Heath during Sept. 2012 and a member's trip to the inaugural BSIA Star Party in Wales.

Tuesday 18th December
"Christmas Party" - End of season food, festivities and fun. Including Roy's popular Astro-Scrabble team game.

We've got a couple of meetings coming up in November :

Tuesday 6th November

Guest speaker: Researching Star Formation
As well as touching on theoretical understanding, David Eden from Liverpool John Moores University will present theories on how stars form from the molecular cloud. He will also present brand new results from Milky Way-scale surveys.

Herschel Telescope

During a brief visit to the UK, the Director of the NASA Herschel Telescope:

A Month of Live Astronomy
