M45 occulted by Moon this evening

Unfortunately the actual occultation occurs during daylight from the UK, but as the Sun sets the Moon will just be moving away from M45 having just eclipsed it.

Worth a photo if the sky is clear where you are.

Photo op Moon and Venus 20th Jan

If by some chance it's not bucketing down this evening there is a nice photo opportunity - the Moon and venus will be a bit over a degree apart in the SW sky just after sunset - the Moon is only 3% illuminated at this point so will be a very thin crescent - Venus will be the easier to spot - look a little below for the Moon.

Aurora alert Friday 24th Nov

I think I should flag up that a dense solar wind stream is entering earths magnetic field now. The wind stream should take affect by tomorrow and fingers crossed lasted into darkness. The activity will be strong and the UK and Eire may see Aurora tomorrow night. I will update when need be :)

Aurora Alert for tonight, Thur 9th Nov

Hey everyone. OK looking good. Solar wind has not hit yet, wind speed is still low but the imf is playing ball. Now down to -14. I think Scotland will see Aurora tonight ( if people north keep checking) and N Ire might also see Aurora. At this stage Eng chances of seeing Aurora is low. Though keep checking north. Skies terrible here!!
