Think I just saw a meteor

I'm a train driver and think I just saw a meteor burning up in the atmosphere it was by euxton balshaw lane junction near wigan at 22.55 it was glowing red and pieces were coming off it how do I find out if it was a meteor is their somewhere that tracks them or a place were you can report them to?? did anyone else see it apart from me and another driver on my ...

October 2010: Hartley 2 and the Double Cluster

A fortuitous gap in the clouds occurred last night (7th) and despite poor transparency, the close encounter between comet 103P/Hartley and the Double Cluster was visible to my camera...

Don't forget to look out for this close encounter tonight (8th)...

The Sky Guide - August 2010

Although a lot of July's cloud seems to have spilled into August, there have been one or two small gaps and tonight (August 4th) looks promising for a reasonable proportion of the country - sorry if you're not in that reasonable proportion, I don't control the weather!! :)

This will be a great time to grab a view of the giant planet Jupiter and to notice that the South Equatorial Belt (SEB) is still absent. ...

Observation of Uranus

If I have uploaded correctly there should be an image of Jupiter +visible moons in the early hours of July 10th. To the right of the image of Jupiter (deliberately over exposed) wil be found a blue / green object which I am presuming to be Uranus. The problem is that I have a similar image, taken about the same time, which shows a very similar blue / green object to the left but well ...
