Mars - 03 Feb

Clear skies on the evening of March 3rd with better than average seeing allowed me to get good images of Mars despite its dwindling diameter.

Celestron CPC1100, x2 Powermate (f/20), Astronomik type 2c colour seperation & Planet Pro 742 infra-red pass filters, Imaging Source DMK21 camera. Transparency very good, seeing fairly good (almost constant image motion but low amplitude), temp -2C, wind calm.

Quite pleased with this. I've got clear impressions of all the Tharsis volcanic domes, Vallis Marineris and atmospheric haze especially around the morning terminator. You know the seeing is reasonably good when the red channel comes out sharper than the infra red ....
