Hi Andrew.
It all sounds great. I hope that if we get together one day I could look through it.
Diagonal mirror is a neccessity. And with my meade there is no other way as the focuser is too short.

It's the same with the Tal 100R Pat,I had to make an extension tube,by removing the lens from an old plastic Tasco barlow that I had lying around here(no great loss)in order to attain focus using the straight through method.
I'm going to wait until the diagonal is returned before I use it again,as I don't fancy ending up in a surgical collar[:D]

Well it looks like that is a problems in some telescopes, a bit silly, but propably making you avoid to do your back in.
