I was going to purchase a Meade ETX-60 but changed my mind when I had a good look at one in the shop. There were several reasons for this... Small plastic shavings stuck on the inside of the front lens, the motor is horribly loud & grindy, the Autostar computer would not align properly & was a pain in the @rse to work from start up, the Autostar displayed motor fault messages & asked for new batteries even though there were new ones in it!
Overall it is a cheap looking scope & I suspected it would cause me nothing but trouble, so I didn't buy one. It really looked like a kiddies toy scope!
I always thought that Meade scopes were of good quality, but not this one.

Steer well clear of it.

I have the ETX-60AT and have had no problems at all with it. It certainly is not a `toy` telescope. Admitedly it is noisy, I also have a Skywatcher Explorer 130P Synscan AZ GOTO telescope, which is very quiet. The alighnment of the ETX is quite accurate.
