Hi Brian. I have a few Meade 4000 eyepieces. Only have other plossl and kelner eyepieces to compare them to doesnt give me much experience with them. They are miles better than the kelners and they are a lot better than my Antares, Celestron and Omcon eyepieces. I current have (4000 series) 26mm, 9.7mm, 6.4mm I also have a 18mm WA (i am not sure if this is a 4000, I think it may be closer to a 3000). But considering you can buy them from kpphototeddy on ebay for about half as much as you can in this country they are a real bargain. I also bought a 2x Barlow #126 and a 2x Barlow APO #140 from this guy and they are absolutely fabulous, a lot better than my skywatcher one.

Hope this helps.

Hi Brian

I had a full set of meade series 4000, until i tried 'Vixen Lanthanums'
They are astounding and knock anything else into a cocked hat.
Just over 100.00 each are value in the end as you will not want to change to anything else and you will see so much more with them.
I have 3 of these now and i dont regret it one bit.

I'm probably the lone dissenting voice here! As well as a couple of Meade 4000's, I also have the standard Plossls that came bundled with my SkyWatcher and Orion scopes (All made by Synta) To be honest, to me the difference is negligable, apart from the price.

I have a Meade 4000 QX 26mm that came with my Lightbridge Dob - it is excellent. Have just ordered second hand Radian for planetary viewing for £100 - hope it is money well spent - I will find out soon!
