Postby andrew shields » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:23 pm

i am planning on making an equatorial mount to dslr adapter (there is a drawing attached) but i was wondering what size the bolt that screws into botom of the camera is and is it a common size. it is coloured red on the drawing.

Andrew, I am sure will have thought of this already, but make sure the length of bolt protruding from your
base plate is just less than the depth of the hole in your camera base, then glue on a thin fibre or rubber
washer for extra safety and to stop the camera from slipping.

Hi Andrew,

You might want to consider using a "ball and socket" or "pan and tilt" head to give you more "framing" options...

I use one of these... really stable and can take a hefty load.
