my fibre optic star

my 62.5 uM fibre and leds arrived today so i built the fibre optic star this aternoon ( it took 30 minutes to build it).

componenets:

1x 470 ohm resistor
1x 20000mcd led
1x 240v ac - 12v dc transformer
1x custard tin
1x 62.5 uM fibre optic patch cable

i have attached a photo below

Hi Andrew,

You might want to set the free end of the fibre into a black disk a few inches in diameter...looks good though :)

What exactly is this device for?
There's coffee in that nebula!

A Fibre optic star can be used to collimate a scope without having to wait for perfect seeing... although you will still probably want to make final tweaks on a real star...

also gives you something to look at during a long spell of cloudy nights...

Ah yes, we do get a lot of those!
