Hi and welcome.
Great to hear you're starting out with this great hobby, and you should be able to find some dark skies in your area - most of us are in far more built up areas.

If you're just starting out, I would recommend trying out any astronomical societies in your area. I see that the Aberdeen Astro Soc have monthly observing evenings at Newtonhill, where you can turn up with or without your telescope and share in an evening's observing.
As well as the observing sessions, they also have talks etc at their meetings in Aberdeen
