HI Andy,
I know what you mean,I've tried some WD 40 on the rollers but it dident help much ,I thought of grease but it might just gum things up.I dont think much can be done about it as its a symptom of the design.I suppose its not that bad,I have heard worse telescopic noise, drive noise from the early ETX 90 and the Siberia 150 are horrendous.I have a portable CD player and some Mozart and Beethoven CD's that will cure the problem[:D].

Hi Andy,

Some Dobs come with teflon pads. Is there any way you could mod it so as to put some in. Perhaps get the material from a specialist store. (I'm brainstorming here![&:])

The ETX-90 is a noisy little thing at high slew speeds I agree Les, especially in the dead of night! That's the little drives though not the bearings I think.

BTW- Watch that WD 40 near the mirror Les! LOL [;)]

Best Wishes

Will

As mentioned in one of my previous posts some time ago, try graphite spray lube its dry and works a treat on things like that.
Should be able to get it at your local hardware superstore.

HI Will,Cumbrianwolf,
Thanks for the advice,Will;dont worry I sprayed the WD40 well away from the optics, which was also capped.I have to remember to cap the scopes at all times when not in use here just now as theres a lot of dust from coal extractions from a nearby opencast.[:@]Incidently somtimes when the scope is being swung higher and the tentioners are applied the springs sometimes give a sudden loud Twang[:o].
Regards Les.
