Manchester Science Festival has an astronomy evening in October:

"Join us for a night at the museum as we embark on an epic journey into the depths of the universe… Learn about the cutting-edge science of
space with local scientists and museum presenters, through space-comedy, space-cocktails and (er) space-craft.Highlights of the evening include Spacetacular! – quite possibly the first stand-up comedy/science/fancy dress/variety/quiz show entirely themed around outer space (presented by BBC Radio 4's Helen Keen and local space scientists), a specially created planetarium show and a campervan journey into the imagination of legendary astronomer and author, Carl Sagan.

Dress code: Whatever you like including normal civilian clothes, but anything space-y is especially encouraged – and there’ll be free tinfoil & futuristic galvanized steel wire pan scourers available on arrival."
