I'v been interested in astronomy for a while and i am about to purchase my first telescope and have decided between 2, i'm not very good with the technical side of them so would like some advice on which would be better for me. I have copied the spec of each one from the website which is on currys, i appreciate any feedback.

Of the two, the 130md is probably the better bet, but I would hold fire on buying anything for the time being.
Before you commit yourself, it is well worth finding if you have a local astronomical society and going along a few times, especially if they have observing evenings. At all the ones I've been to, people will be more than happy to let you try theirs out, and you can get an idea of how different scopes work on different targets.
Scopes: Meade 8" SCT, Skywatcher 127mm Mak, Raffle winner of SW ST80
For imaging: Pentax K5, Asda webcam, Star Adventurer (new toy)
For companionship: Mid Cheshire Astronomical Group.

The 114 has a focal length of 1000mm and the 130 has a focal length of 650mm. (information not provided by Currys!) That explains the quite different magnifications with the same eyepieces. Don't let that fool you though. The telescope with the bigger aperture (the 130) is the better telescope. You will get good brighter images with the 130, and plenty of scope to soup up the magnification, if you want to do that at a later date. There is no harm in checking out the telescopes in action at an observing session at your local astronomical society.
I use an 11" Celestron SCT (CPC 1100) on an equatorial wedge, housed in a 2.2m Pulsar observatory. I use a ZWO ASI1600MC and Canon 500D for imaging.
