Light Pollution?

Hi all,

took some 30 sec exposures last night and was amazed by how orange everything was. Is this from the lights in the park behind our house?

Yes, but not only them; the general orange skyglow, mostly visible off clouds, is due to hundreds of poorly-designed streetlights.

Here is a shot of Orion rising through the "aurora" of Bournemouth and Poole (taken from Badbury Rings -- scan of old Fujichrome slide, hence the green tinge):
