How far is a Light year?

All are know that light year is the unit of distance. It is often used when expressing distances to stars. It is the total distance that a beam of light travels in one year.

Is this a question, comment or what, if you are asking a question HOW FAR then it is 5,865,696,000,000 miles

It couldn't be easier, 186,500 x 60 (seconds) x 60 (minutes) x 24 (hours) x 365 days did that when I was 14, I am now 60

If you want a feel for a lightyear, the ratio between an AU and a lightyear is about the same as the ratio between an inch and a mile.
So if you imagine the Sun/Earth distance as the length of the first joint on your thumb, the nearest star would be about 4 miles away.
