Green light in night sky?

Postby svenpusnik » Sun Aug 05, 2018 2:19 pm

So yesterday I went out to do some milky way photography. When reviewing photos I noticed a green light in one of my test shots. I didn't see it with my own eyes, because I was stil setting up the camera. So I'm asking if any one of you would know what the greenish light is.

Hello Svenpusnik

Welcome to the forum, I've not been here long myself!

Looks a bit like a comet shape. Looks like it's just above Altair in Sagitta, in the middle of the Summer Triangle asterism. You have Mars, Sagittarius and Saturn at the bottom of your picture, so you're looking south ish at midnight ish?

Could you post up your location and date and time you took the picture and I'm sure someone here will be able to help with identifying the green light in the image.

Regards

Graeme
