Jupiter, June 18th

[color="#ffffff"]It seems a while since I took a look at Jupiter and what a pleasure it was. Quite a lot of fast moving streaming going on in the atmosphere but Registax worked wonders as usual. Here's my first process of the season with a few more yet to come when the planet was a bit higher in the sky...

Great shot Pete and clear considering the angle at the moment.

I see an astronomer in the Philippines has been watching the emergence of another red spot and has a photo on Spaceweather today.

great shot i been viewing jupiter and its moons alot and very suprised how bright they r even in early morning daylight
i suppose they will be brighter in darker skies in winter something im lookin forward 2
why r its moons so noticeable?
is it the light from jupiter that makes them stand out so well?

Jupiter's four Galilean moons are huge objects, about as big as our own Moon or even bigger. Ganymede is bigger than Mercury. The light from them is just reflected from the Sun.
