Hi, I have a portable car booster pack with a 12 volt cigarette socket in it and i use that to power my skywatcher goto mount. Total cost was £29 and i can resatrt my car with it when its battery is flat![:)]

I'm using a car battery from a scrap yard. I made a wire with clips to go on the battery on one end and cig lighter socket and 'scope power lead on the other. All housed in a box I made. Hours of powers for free :D

I have recently acquired a Powerflex version of the 7Ah Skywatcher one; it oozes tackiness, and the instruction sheet is a Spanish translation of the original Chinese! It differs in that it has a USB port. I also have a car battery booster pack (but it charges off 110V AC so it is a bit of a hassle), and a couple of sealed lead-acid motorcycle batteries. I have just bought a solar-powered trickle-charger, which I hope will be able to keep them topped up.

Probably even better, but harder to come by. I've never even seen one. I assume they're 12v?
