Sir Patrick Moore Memorial Lecture

The second lecture in commemoration of Sir Patrick Moore’s kindness and hospitality to members of West Buckland School’s Astronomical Association will take place on the evening of Friday 2nd May.

Our distinguished speaker, Dr John Mason MBE, is an old friend of Patrick Moore and has presented the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures on television, written numerous best-selling books on astronomy and when not pursuing an international career as an entertaining speaker, is heavily involved in running the famous South Downs Planetarium.

Following the success of last year's event, we are hosting a black tie dinner at 6.00pm which is open to parents and friends at a cost of £15 per person. This covers a three-course meal, the chance to meet a world-leading astronomer and entry to the lecture!

The lecture itself will follow at 7.45pm in the school’s 150 Theatre with an entry charge of £5 for those not attending the meal.
