Skyhawk 1145PM

Postby golum » Sat May 30, 2009 1:03 am

I've just decided it's time for me to buy my first scope and was hoping for a little advice.

I was looking for something around the £100 mark, with the thought that i may buy something even more serious a couple of years down the line.

My main interests are the moon, the planets and their moons, but also possibly some deep sky observing. It sounds like a reflector scope is probably the best for my needs (am i right?) and was therefore thinking the Skywatcher - Skyhawk 1145PM sounds like a well priced one for my needs (around £135).

I was wondering what more experienced astronomers think is good for a newbie like me. I'm not a complete novice and can fumble my way around the stars and a telescope a little.

Thanks for any advice...

PS. I've seen that some more expensive 'scopes have DSLR camera attachments. Is it possible to do this with a standard digital camera on the Skyhawk? ...and would the results be worth it? I like the idea of being able to show other people what i've been looking at :~)

Many thanks,
