Skywatcher skyliner 150p or Orion sky quest xt6?

Postby Saralou212 » Mon Jan 25, 2016 10:26 am

Hi, I'm a keen beginner and after several weeks of research I think I've narrowed down my first serious telescope to between the skywatcher skyliner 150p or the Orion sky quest xt6. Id love to be able to afford the 8" but my budget will only stretch so far!
I'd love any opinions as too which I should go for or any other suggestions up to a budget of £230.
In a nutshell I'm looking for clear sharp images of the planets and deep space nebula and galaxy's etc.
Thank you for any help!

If you are happy with the idea of the size of a Dobsonian telescope, and can only afford the Skyliner 150, then I suggest that is where you start. The 8" Dob will be quite a bit bigger. The 6" dob can be re-purposed as a 6" Newtonian with tube rings and mounted on an equatorial mount.
