The Sun at 11am 26/01/2013.

There are three active regions officially recorded, but there is one other interesting one near the North Pole. There are two sunspots in AR 1662 and AR 1660. Numerous prominences are visible around the limb and there are several broad filaments within the disc.

This is a pastel sketch of the prominence at the South Pole with a little artistic licence.

These are brilliant! Very nice to see and I think sketches are a brilliant tool for novice's like myself to get a genuine feel of what is visible with the telescope as opposed to imaging which prove, although beautiful, quite deceiving!

The Sun at 9.45am 30th March 2013

There are five active regions on the disc, in four I could see five large sunspots with penumbra and plage.
Four groups of prominences were in view, three large. Two smaller single prominences were visible.
In the Northern hemisphere five long broad filaments stood out.
