Spitzer finds nearby rocky planet

Postby jsc248 » Sun Aug 02, 2015 4:55 pm

Hi Gang,
NASA's Spitzer telescope has found the nearest rocky planet outside the Solar System. At a distance of 21 light years, the planet orbits HD 219134b at a racy 3 days and hence it is a super hot planet not capable of supporting life. To read the full story of the discovery go here http://www.nasa.gov/press-release/nasas-spitzer-confirms-closest-rocky-exoplanet

To me astronomy is looking up and thinking "What the heck is going on up there!!"
