Sun Fun ('.')

A very turbulent surface today on the Sun. There are numerous broad filaments to the east and west within these regions. Sunspots are obvious in one region due north(one) and a second below and east(two). Groups of prominences are on the limb in all quarters large ones visible due south, east and west. Worth a look.

A little rushed this morning hope I got it right. Two regions with sunspots today. The North east quarter with the lion's share. A string of four small spots and one large one followed to the north by two shorter strings in a triangular formation each with four spots. The second region is near the south pole with one large spot and a smaller one. Both regions are surrounded by plage. Around the limb are some large promineneces and groups. The largest are at the four poles, the most interesting group (like a forest) is due north. A scattering of broad filaments are in the north west quarter and others in an arc towards the south pole.

Nice to see the Sun again. There are two active sunspot regions today north and south east. There are two spots north and four south east surrounded by plage. Three filaments are around the northern active region. Large prominences are due east and on the north west limb. A small group of three prominences are near the south pole.

Hmm, orientation doesn't seem to match up with Saturdays, a little puzzzling, error there somewhere. Anyway there are still two active regions visible with plage and spots to see. Around the limb there are prominences in the south east , north east and north west. The largest prominences are south east.

Bathing in sunshine, nothing like it! The two active regions with spots and plage are still with us, but we are about to loose one. Prominences are on the limb in each quarter, the largest due east accompanied by a long spike, another of which is almost due west. A filaprom is visible on the south east limb with plage.

There are five active regions with sunspots today. I could only number four of them from solar observatory images. The one due east was not shown. There are numerous sunspots to be seen, but you will need a big scope with baader film to see them all some are very small.

There is a long filament visible due south. Prominences are due north and south and east. The largest due north.

The Sun is showing three active regions today with numerous sunspots, one in the north west quarter and two due south. Large prominences are visible on the north west, south east and west limbs. Numerous filaments some broad are located around these active regions and also due east. Checking against the solar observatories, two other regions are listed the top right section of the north west active region and a smaller region which would be due west. Good hunting

A little hazy today, but clearing! The Sun has five active regions with plage the largest sunspots are due south east and north west. Numerous filaments some broad are located around these regions. Prominences are mainly located around the southern limb the largest almost due south. Definitely a good day to view.

Hi Paul,

I hope you don't mind tagging onto you're thread with my drawing's.

I am using a William Optics ZS66sd with a Vixen LV zoom eyepiece, and Baader filter, with an orange filter, attached to the eyepiece end.

Saturday's sketch showed considerably more spot groups then there are today.

And despite the windy conditions blowing the telescope. The sun was showing a reasonable amount of faculae surrounding the spot groups. Also visible is surface granulation, which is only visible during moments of good seeing.

No Problem Paul.

Two active regions visible this morning east and west. Six sunspots east one large one and one west with a filament. Prominences visible mainly around the eastern limb the largest due north. Broad filaments are scattered around the disc.
