Sunspots captured using mobile phone.

Postby starchaser7 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 10:13 am

Hi all

I managed to capture this shot of sunspots using a mobile phone. Please note full filtering was used as detailed below.
The phone is a Windows Phone HTC Mozart set to 8m, and was held at the eyepiece. The telescope used was an ETX70AT with Baader Solar filter fitted to the objective lens and an IR Blocking filter fitted to 9mm eyepiece and 2X Barlow lens. other protection used was a hat to prevent sunburn on my head [:D].
I was sooo impressed by this shot that i wanted to share it.

Now that is cool! But what do you mean when you say the phone was set to 8m? Manual focus on a phone cam?
There's coffee in that nebula!

Hi Cyclops,
It simpler than that it's 8 megapixels.

Duh as a photographer I should have known that! 8MP tho, on a phone! My motorola Defy has 5 MP which is one less than my. DSLR!
