Telescope cases

Postby rover11235 » Mon May 01, 2017 6:14 pm

Hello,

I am a complete beginner and have no idea what I'm doing, but I have decided to buy a telescope and have settled on a Skywatcher evostar 120 with an eq5 mount. I guess my first question is do I need a case for both the telescope and the mount?

I will be taking it in my car to get dark skies so I assume that I do for the telescope as this is delicate, but what about the mount, is a case for that really necessary? Then to add to my confusion, some of the cases are for tripods and others for mounts, so I'm worried I might need 3.

Thanks in advance.

HI I have a Skywatcher 200p and if I transport in the car I put the tripod in without a case and use the box the scope came in to protect from damage as it fits snug in its box,is protected by the polysterene.Hope this helps.
Thanks

Cases are a CON, look in B and Q

Here is mine

There is always a solution, I am a professional sports photographer and often carry amny £000s of camera gear trackside in this, it can be stood on and I am not light, it has bubble wrap round the inside a pillow on the bottom and one covers my Celestron EQ8" Edge tube, if you look round there are solutions for most scopes.

As for the mount, it lays in the boot !
