The Morning Person

Postby james s » Sat Mar 06, 2010 12:43 pm

Hi all!

I needed to either stay awake until about 2:00am to view Saturn and a few of the M-object that are out there and above the horizon at that time of the morning...OR

Go to bed and set the alarm clock for around 2:00am and get up again to view Saturn etc...BUT

I'm such a morning person that I have trouble staying awake late, so I went to bed and hit my head on the end of the bed just two times so that I would wake up at 2:00am, but it didn't work and I slept right through.

How do YOU do it? Do you stay up? Or do you hit the hay and get up again at the ungodly hour? What's the best way?

Best regards!

I stay awake to do any viewing as I know as soon as my head hits the pillow the only objects I will be viewing will be in my dreams.

If it's clear in the evening I stay up. If cloudy I have my alarm set for 3am. Either works for me ... but, if still up at say 2am & having to be up & about at 9am in the morning, I'm actually in better shape if I work rright through rather than going to be late & rising early.

Tend to get a nap in from about 9:00 onwards and then get up to observe.

Have to say that I would prefer to simply observe up until 1:00 or so then sleep. Work on the basis that yes I could see Saturn now at 2:00 or 3:00 but in a few months I could see it at 11:00pm. Usually decide to wait a few months.[8|][8|][8|][8|]

Istay up if it's clear. If there's a fair bit of cloud about i give it up as a bad job and get some sleep. I've tried setting the alarm for specific events, but it doesn't work for me.

I never actually go to bed usually till 1:30 AM anyway so staying up late is no trouble at all for me.

I dont tend to get up till 11 AM though.

Thanks for all the replies!

A bit of a mixed bag then?

I like the idea of waiting for the objects to come around at a time that suits me... i.e. wait until Saturn is in the line of sight at a reasonable hour.

Thanks again!
