The Rising Sea

Hi gang,

Since 1880 the global sea level has risen by an amazing eight inches. This doesn't sound a lot but just stop and think for a minute about just how much water it would take to make a global increase of that magnitude. To help explain the processes involved and to show why the increase is happening, NASA's JPL has produced a brilliant webpage complete with images, animations and explanations that show this brilliantly. If you are interested or even slightly curious as to why then go here http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/news/2015/9/3/teaching-the-science-of-earths-rising-seas/ It is well worth spending the time to learn!

John.
To me astronomy is looking up and thinking "What the heck is going on up there!!"
