Barlow Lens - whats the differnce

I'm trying to obtain some images of the sun throught my Coronado PST but I understand this can be a problem when using a DSLR one option I've been told is to use s Shorty Barlow lens - Is there any diffenence between that and an ordinary Barlow ? The other option I've been informed is to physically remove the extension piece between the PST's blocking filter and body - an unnoficial modification that may affect the device's warranty so I'm not really keen on that idea and anyway just how safe is it to do that ?

Any ideas on how to couple my DSLR with my PST to obtain images ?

Thank You

Richard

I've asked the same questions...

The long and short of it is that by adding a barlow you increase the image scale (which you may or my not want to do). I've been advised to remove the extension tube built into the scope.

This is a threaded tube - so I wouldn't think that you'll get into any trouble by removing it (as you can screw it back in for visual use at any time).
