Hi all. I'm Pete and I'm very new to astronomy. Having just bought my first copy of Sky at Night Magazine, I thought I'd sign up for the forums as well.

I've been stargazing now for about 3-4 weeks, using a pair of old 10x40 binoculars. I'm planning on getting a telescope in the next few weeks, and I was looking at the Star Watcher Explorer-130P (I only have a budget of £160). Is this a good scope to start with?

Welcome Pete!

Total novice myself, but there's a huge amount of info in the forum archives and the guys and gals who post are great if you've got any specific issues. Best of luck.

Welcome Mate,

For that money yes that is a good scope to get. Its the one I got as my first scope and loved it, although I got aperture fever very fast so whether that is a good point or bad point I will leave for you to decide. Welcome and happy gazing :O)
