Yes, that's a fine first attempt - focus is nice and sharp. It should be in colour, unless your cam has been modified with a monochrome chip. What capture software are you using?

hi smerral i used wxastrocapture to take it. one thing i did notice tho was that when i selected connect a camera in it there was a list of maybe 7 or so cameras all with the spc900 prefix is there a certain 1 that has to be picked in order to get colour

thanks

Steve, that's interesting - I hadn't noticed that with mine but then it's a while since I used wxastrocapture. I now use Sharpcap. One of the reasons is that it gives me a text file read out of all my settings at each capture, so it's easy to see which works best. Anyways you can experiment with the camera choice. But what I think it might be is this: Click on Properties, hit the Colour Tab and under modes, make sure the Colour check box is ticked and that the saturation is at least 50.
