The very first International Astronomy Show will be held in May 2013

Sky at Night Magazine is proud to announce its association with a major new astronomy show that launches next year.

The International Astronomy Show will be held on 17 and 18 May 2013 at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre in central England.

The new exhibition is focused on astronomy, observing and the wonders of the Universe and will feature over 40 trade stands plus talks and hands-on demonstrations.

Already more than 40 stands have been booked, and speakers signed up include Dr Stuart Clark, Jerry Stone, Nik Szymanek Ray Wilkinson and Olivier Thizy.

Masterminding the show are Ian Peters and Graham Smith, both amateur astronomers, whose new company UK Astronomers Ltd will run the operation.

“I’ve been an amateur astronomer for 35 years and attended lots of events, most of which are in London or near Scotland,” says Graham. “We want to create something that is more central.”

Ian adds, “Because we’re in the Midlands, we’re getting interest from right across the UK. Our plan is to make this a yearly event and to make it better value for money for amateur astronomers and the general public alike".

The International Astronomy Show’s location, near Leamington Spa, has 2,000sqm of exhibition space, free parking for 2,000 cars and a 200-seater restaurant to cater for visitors.

Warwickshire Exhibition Centre is close to the M40, M1 and M6 motorways, and a shuttle bus will operate between the venue and Leamington Spa rail station to carry visitors to the International Astronomy Show.
