It's just over 4 years since the 20 metre wide asteroid entered the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of about 40,000 mph before exploding at a height of about 18 miles above the Russian city of Chelyabinsk. It's known that NEOs will continue to hit the Earth at irregular intervals in the future. In this talk, supported by the NEOShield-2 Project, Chris Greenfield will discuss the threats and the science and technology for Near Earth Object impact prevention.
