PROCLUS is an outstanding crater of very young impact. The non-continuous distribution of bright rays has an important characteristic. The rays appear stronger directed towards the regions of the northern hemisphere. This reveals that PROCLUS was formed by an oblique impact and at a low angle, with the projectile (asteroid or comet) coming from the east-southeast direction, on the side of the SOMNI Palus, where there are no rays marking the surface or signals of materials ejected by impact.
