M24 is very interesting since it is not really one object but a ‘window’, a hole in the dust of the nearest Milky Way arm, through which we can see all the way to the Sagittarius arm of our galaxy.
Near it are the very interesting emission nebula IC 1284 and reflection nebulae VdB 118 and 119, as well as dark clouds. (Barnard 92 and 93)
