M51 – The Whirlpool Galaxy is an interacting grand-design spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici and lies between 15 and 35 million lightyears away. I’m really pleased with this image as for me it shows the dramatic interaction between the two galaxies NGC5194 and NGC5195. This image is made of up of just under 10 hours of luminance data in 300s subs, with colour made up of about an hour per channel.
