Presque Isle State Park, Pennsylvania, USA

It was Cloudy and Raining in Dayton, Ohio…so it was time to drive somewhere,…..seems I had to do the same thing back in 2006 for the last Mercury Transit(Indiana).

Success!!! The 2016 Mercury Transit was Awesome!!!

The Planet Mercury Crossed the face of the Sun yesterday 05-09-2016 from our perspective,
it was cool to watch for 7+ hours, and it is tiny compared to the Sun… in fact there were some sunspots visible that were bigger than Mercury!
Finally back in Dayton, after that mad late night rush drive to Lake Erie, settled on Presque Isle State Park in PA. the only clear place I could find within driving distance…5 Hours!!!…despite the High cirrus clouds that plagued us most of the Morning, I was able to nab a few good ones…will post the rest later (20GB of data) , Thanks to Fellow MVAS Astronomy Club member Greg Grierson, for pumping me full of coffee, helping me setup my equipment and most importantly keeping me awake while driving to Lake Erie & back for second time this weekend(went Fishing the First Time). Thanks to Connie Post for posting my Live Shots & Messages on Channel 7 during the event!!! I also got to show many Joggers and Cyclists the Mercury Transit (their first ever) as they passed by our setup at the State Park! Here is a close-up & Full Disk shot in Hydrogen Alpha Light of Mercury in front of the Sun.
