Glendale Isle of Skye
Canon 600D, Samyang 14mm f2.8 lens, Ioptron tracking mount on tripod.
On holiday on the beautiful Isle of Skye, I had planned to take advantage of the glorious dark skies of Glendale. On the night of the 1st August the sky was crystal clear and the Milky Way was clearly visible to the naked eye. My favourite area the Cygnus region directly above me I set up my equipment and was thrilled to get this result. For once everything went to plan, focus, polar alignment, tracking and atmosphere were all perfect. The resulting image is a 13 minute (actually 786 second) single exposure at ISO 400. Definitely my best Milky Way image to date.
