This is NGC 281 also known as The Pacman Nebula after the video game character. It is an H II region (a cloud of ionised gas in which stars have recently formed) in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It is 9500 light years from Earth and contains a multiple star with one mag 8 primary and 4 fainter companions. This version combines SII, Ha and OIII wavelengths (the so-called Hubble palette).
